Standing up for our American heritage.

Our American Heritage

It’s worth standing up for.

On July 4, 1776, the members of the Second Continental Congress forever changed the world. No longer would the people of the world have to endure despots and tyrannical leaders. The signers of the Declaration proclaimed that “We the People” had the right of self-determination and, therefore, the responsibility to rise up against despotism, tyranny, and all other forms of subjugation.

This is our American heritage!

Surprisingly, the Declaration of Independence was the first document in history wherein a people stated in clear and practical terms that they would no longer stand to be treated as subjects.

Those representatives from the thirteen British colonies said in a loud and unmistakable voice that “we the people” could determine our own direction, make our own choices and decisions, and govern ourselves without the need of a king or other such arbiter. We the people, which was implicit in the Declaration of Independence, was made explicit and codified in the Constitution of the United States of America in 1789. That phrase launched a grand experiment that continues to this day, 250 years after the “shot heard round the world.” This experiment continues not only in the substance and in the form of the United States of America but now in many other nations around the globe. It turns out that “we the people” was and is quite an important concept.

We believe wholeheartedly in the words and principles penned by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, and in the Constitution of the United States of America, as amended, and in the principles of self-governance.
